Chief's Mind-Boggler - 016

PUZZLE
If you add the square of Graham's age to the age of Jim, the sum is 62, but if you add the square of Jim's age to the age of Graham, the result is 176.

How old are Graham and Jim really??

Graham is 7 years old and Jim is 13 years old.

Proof:
let Graham’s age = g
let Jim’s age = j

given:
g² + j = 62 ; solve for j
j = 62 – g²

also given:
j² + g = 176; plug in the above for j
(62 – g²)² + g = 176 ; solve for g
g = 7 ; therefore j =13

g = 7
j = 13

Check:
49 + 13 = 62
169 + 7 = 176
